Manufacturing Technical Support Scientist- Production Scientist

Responsibilities

As a Manufacturing Technical Support Scientist II (MTS Scientist II), you will investigate product performance issues through experimental studies, identify the root cause, and develop and verify effective solutions. This includes creating the appropriate documentation in support of the studies and implementation of the solutions. You will also provide expertise and leadership to cross-functional teams in the development of new products/processes, and the troubleshooting of existing products/process in regard to design change and change control.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Developing appropriate scientific studies with sound rationale and managing their execution

  • Creating plans, protocols and reports in support of studies

  • Coordinating the execution of the study protocol, inclusive of scheduling of appropriate personnel, equipment, and materials through associated or impacted department managers

  • Executing experimental studies using the company's diagnostic platforms (automated instruments) as directed by senior scientists, approved protocols, and written instructions

  • Upon completion of protocols, assisting senior scientists in data analysis utilizing appropriate statistical tools and methods

  • Participating in the preparation of presentation materials for communication of study outlines, data, analyses, and conclusions to senior scientists, supervisors, and leaders in technical forums

  • Performing accurate and timely documentation, per GDP, of all aspects of the study, inclusive of test results, observations, etc. as defined per written procedure or protocol

  • Maintaining data in a well-organized, easy to locate fashion during all aspects of the studies

  • Performing data tabulation & entry into excel spreadsheets, Minitab worksheets, etc. with subsequent analysis of data

  • Performing routine maintenance of instrument platforms

Manufacturing Technical Support Scientist- Production Scientist

Qualifications

In this Manufacturing Technical Support Scientist II (MTS Scientist II) role, you must be able to work well independently as well as in a team. You will be the leader of small teams, so strong leadership, effective communication, and good presentation skills are essential. The requirements below outline what else you will need to be successful in this role.

MTS Scientist II requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree with relevant work experience in assay or product development

  • Masters’ degree, preferred

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in biotech industry with preference placed in reagent based diagnostics, immunoassay development, etc.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt (DMAIC or DFSS), preferred

  • Strong technical writing skills, data analysis and interpretation, and data presentation

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and statistical software (Minitab, Jump, etc.), with strong statistical background, a must
