Mechanical Technician – Solid Phase (Manufacturing ) - Maintenance - Mechatronics

Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Technician, you will be the first point of contact for equipment issues and will be subject matter expert for the intracacies of the equipment. In addition, this position focuses on daily tasks associated with the production of Immucor products.

Additional responsibilities for this role include:

  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all mechanical and hydraulic equipment

  • Skill-level requirements vary from basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to component replacement

  • Diagnosing equipment issues and making the corresponding repairs

  • Performing routine maintenance

  • Checking equipment and operating systems and troubleshooting as necessary

  • Ensuring mechanical operations, standards and controls are maintained at high quality

  • Resolving motor, pump, conveyor and hydraulic problems

  • Repairing and performing preventive maintenance as per established standards

  • Using hand tools including power tools and rigging equipment daily

  • Performing tasks and administrative aspects of the operations according to department procedures, specifications or work instructions (job orders) including:

  • Starting up and breaking down operations

  • Clearing operation areas

  • Calculating component usage

  • Operating and maintaining department equipment which may include Oyster Bay equipment, computers, printers, refrigerators, trolleys, and carts according to department specifications

  • Occasionally performing manufacturing operations according to department procedures, specifications or work instructions (job orders)

  • Completing tasks within procedure/work instruction-defined time frames

  • Calculating accurately solid phase components used, rejected or returned

Qualifications

This role will be responsible for maintaining and operating automated equipment on the production lines, supporting packaging operations and supporting any task associated with the daily manufacturing operations. We are looking for an individual with a strong work ethic and experience working in manufacturing environment and must be able to work irregular hours including flexibility with all shifts as necessary to meet production schedule deadlines.

Additional requirements for this role include:

  • High School diploma OR GED required; Associates Degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, Engineering or Automation field, preferred

  • Mechanic certification or 5 years’ experience as Manufacturing mechanic is preferred

  • Previous experience working as a manufacturing mechanic under cGMPs conditions

  • Must be able to work within an evolving environment. Must be able to accept change to the work schedule on a daily basis.
